Hoc: Argentina beat China to win Olympic women's hockey bronze

ATHENS, Aug 26 AFP - World champions Argentina denied China their first-ever Olympic
field hockey medal with a 1-0 victory in the play-off for the women's bronze medal today.

Luciana Aymer scored a last-minute winner to put the 2002 World Cup champions on the
podium, but below the silver they took at Sydney four years ago.

The Netherlands will take on Germany for the gold medal later today.

China, virtually unknown in women's hockey until they won both the elite Champions
Trophy and the Asian Games titles in 2002, improved by one their fifth-place finish at
Sydney.
