Qld: Police interview teenage driver of car
BRISBANE, Aug 30 AAP - Police said today they had formally interviewed an 18-year-old
female driver whose car allegedly struck a group of pedestrians on the Gold Coast, killing
a child and injuring eight other people.
Nine-year-old Teena Lea Harris died when a car careered onto a footpath along the busy
Gold Coast highway on the afternoon of August 5.
Teena's six-year-old sister Katie and a toddler today remained in Brisbane's Mater
Children's Hospital but were reported to be in a stable condition, a spokeswoman said.
The driver had been undergoing medical treatment and police said they had been unable
to formally interview her until yesterday.
Police said today investigations into the accident were continuing.
